• ANY Breast Cancer was created when we lost our beloved Andrea Nicole Young (ANY), 51 years old, due to the mutation of cells known as cancer.  She was a non-smoker, avid HIT, CrossFit, and cyclist who maintained a healthy diet.  Genetically she didn’t have the cancer trait; however, she was diagnosed with stage two cancer after noticing a lump in her right breast during an exercise session.  She underwent treatment and was announced cancer free after a year!  Sadly, the following year, cancer returned and claimed her life. 

• The pain of losing her inspired us to do more than remember her life but also to walk with others and support them in their battle against ANY breast cancer.  To help them understand their diagnoses, prognosis, and options, and to give others what our Andrea didn’t.

Did you know? 

• A new American Cancer Society (ACS) report finds that the death rate for breast cancer in the United States among women dropped 43% between 1989, when it peaked, and 2020. During the last decade, death rates declined similarly for women of all racial/ethnic groups across the US except for American Indians/Alaska Natives (AIANs), who had stable rates. However, Black women are still more likely to die from breast cancer than White women across the US, even though Black women have lower breast cancer incidence rates.  
• The racial disparity in deaths from breast cancer has remained at 40% or higher for a decade.
• Black women younger than 50 had a death rate that was twice as high as White women. Plus, Black women are more likely than White women to die of breast cancer at any age.
• AIAN women were 17% less likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer than White women but 4% more likely to die from the disease.

“We have been reporting this same disparity year after year for a decade. The differences in death rates are not explained by Black women having more aggressive cancers.
